Do you want dimples to appear on your face when you smile? If so, then you are not the only one who does. Dimples are a thing of beauty and they enhance your smile. Unfortunately not everyone has dimples when they smile. That is not to say they cannot get them. Now dimple creation is possible and that too without too much of an issue.
When do you need dimples?
Go for dimple creating procedures only and only if you cannot live without them and you think they are absolutely necessary. The first thing to do is to make sure you have realistic expectations from the procedure. Do not raise your expectations to the level where it becomes tough for you to handle if the procedure does not give you the kind of dimples you were looking for in the first place. You also need to be healthy and fit to undergo the procedure. Go to a cosmetic surgeon and let him take a look at your health first.
Things you need to do for the procedure
Like it is the case with every major or minor surgery, there are a few necessary steps and precautions that need to be taken very seriously before going for the procedure. The same applies to dimple creation. You will be asked to stop the intake of alcohol and will have to give up smoking too before you undergo the treatment. The time to quit will be communicated to you by your doctor.
You might also be asked to quit taking anything with fish oil in it and also blood thinning medicines. The latter because they can start bleeding. Your doctor might also ask you to stop eating or drinking anything a few hours before the operation begins. That time will be communicated by the doctor as well. And if your doctor prescribes any medicines, please make sure you take them on a regular basis.
Dimple creation is a relatively straightforward procedure that does not take more than half an hour normally. Local anesthesia is given to the patient and the doctor will then make a tiny incision on the cheeks. The incision will be pain free as well. A stitch that will be absorbable will then be put through the cheek’s inside all the way to surface beneath the skin at the place where the dimple is to be created. The last step will comprise of tying the stitch to create the dimple.
Your doctor will tell you everything you need to know about what to do after the procedure is done. Antibiotics will be given to stop infections and you might be told to use ice pack to counter swelling. Eat food that is easy to bite and swallow and do not forget to rinse and clean your mouth with antiseptic solution. You will be told some other things as well and all you have to do is make sure that you don’t take those lightly. Post-op care is just as important.
